3 techniques to help you stay grounded, clear and centred through the festive period

The holiday season is upon us, with work drinks, catching up with friends you haven’t seen all year and of course family. I think this time of year brings out a whole spectrum of feelings for people. It’s a time to reconnect with friends, family and spoil yourself. We also take the time to look back at the year and cross off all those goals we set and look forward to what we want to achieve in the new coming year.

Christmas is an emotional time, here are 3 tips on how to stay ‘Grounded’ so you can breeze through it without the emotional turmoil.

1. Go for walks in nature any and every chance you get, be that in parks, woodlands or lakes or a pond. Stop and imagine roots going down all the way into the earth from the bottom of your feet.

2. Take a moment and feel the silence. That will bring you straight back to the now moment and switch that ever chattering mind off, even for a few seconds and you’ll feel energised. How you feel the silence, is by listening out for it. You’ll hear it in between the rustles of the leaves and in between the pause in sentences.
‘The power of now’ is an awesome book that helps describe it in more detail.

3. First thing in the morning or any time during the day when you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed or tired take 5 mins, find a quiet spot somewhere, sit down get comfortable and close your eyes. Focus on your heart chakra and breath into it. Breath in for 4 sec’s, hold for 4 and exhale for 7 sec’s. Do this until you find yourself in a lovely place of stillness and then focus on feeling love. Expand that bubble of love out and feel it surround you. When you’ve finished. Bring the focus into your fingers, feet and feel your feet connecting strongly with the floor.

I will explain what the feelings of being grounded, clear and centred are and how they are important to us on a daily basis.

Grounded is used a lot in the ‘spiritual’ world, but what does it actually mean and how does it affect us on a daily basis? There is a chakra at the bottom of our field that connects to the earth. It connects us to the physical presence of being here. The ‘Earth star’ is very sensitive and it can almost close when we are shocked, in fear and we can’t deal with what’s happened. Like when my little one fell off his high chair and I watched as it happened, before he landed on the floor I knew it was a bad fall and screamed out. The fear of it immediately closed my Earth star chakra also closing my heart chakra, making me feel fearful and defensive.

And for the next 2 days I felt like I was walking around in a daze. I couldn’t focus or get any clarity to plan my days and get things done. I felt quite disempowered and lost. It took me 3 days to realise what had happened (and I’m a trained healer) I cleansed my field outside on the grass as oppose to in the flat and immediately, everything I had to do, started taking order in my head and I also realised just how disconnected from my partner I had been and the negative impact it had on our relationship.
When we’re grounded our fields clear out shock and stabilise us, when it closes there’s no flow and everything builds up.

What is being clear?

It’s having clarity of mind, focus and intention, which helps make your day run smoothly. Getting things done are effortless even when challenges come up. You’re not clock watching and you get lost in the activity in hand.

Being centred means you feel strong at your core, physically strong around your sacral area, mentally and emotionally you have a strong sense of who you are, which helps you to decipher where your boundary finishes and some else’s starts. So when someone has a strong reaction to something you may have said, you know there is ‘pain’ being triggered and you’re the one triggering it, but has nothing to do with you, so you can then b
