Meet The Therapist – Melanie Pollett

What kind of therapies do you offer?
I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor and coach so I use a wide range of therapeutic approaches depending on what suits the individual client, such as CBT, Gestalt, Mindfulness, art therapy, coaching and Psychosynthesis.
 
Why did you want to get into the industry?
I’ve always been interested in psychology, studied it and for many years worked in Education so understanding people and supporting them was a huge part of the job.  Working with children and families I saw how much experiences and thought patterns affected their lives.  But with support through compassion and Psychoeducation those individuals could be empowered to make things better for themselves.
 
What’s the best thing about your job?
I love my job! It’s a privilege to be trusted to sit alongside someone and support them through their pain, joy and journey to a better and easier way of being.  To see the positive changes clients make is a real joy.
 
Can you sum up the benefits of your therapies? 
There are many benefits from therapy and therapeutic coaching for example increased self esteem, improved relationships, better stress management and emotional regulation. Through therapy I support clients to learn greater self awareness and this self awareness leads to more choice of how clients live their lives.
