Womb Healing
Womb healing is a deeply honouring, nurturing therapy that supports the health and vitality of the womb and pelvic space. Using warm, intentional touch, it invites the body to soften, let go and reconnect with its own natural rhythms. The work is gentle, yet profound.
This treatment is a carefully curated combination of holistic modalities, drawing together Gentle Release Therapy, Abdominal Massage, Reiki, Energy Field Healing and Chi Ne Tsang. Each is woven together intuitively, creating a layered and deeply responsive experience that works with the whole person — physically, emotionally and energetically.
Origins
Womb healing draws on ancient healing traditions from across the world. Chi Ne Tsang — the Taoist practice of internal organ massage — works with the abdomen as a centre of emotional and energetic holding. Abdominal massage traditions, including Maya-inspired techniques, understand the womb as a place of creative power and physical health that benefits profoundly from skilled, loving touch.
These ancestral teachings are integrated here with Gentle Release Therapy, Reiki and Energy Field Healing — modalities that work with the body’s subtle energy systems to encourage release, rebalancing and restoration. Together, they create something greater than the sum of their parts: a treatment that honours both the physical body and the deeper intelligence held within it.
Benefits
Clients often describe womb healing as profoundly releasing, deeply nourishing and unexpectedly emotional. Reported benefits include:
- Relief from menstrual discomfort, including cramps, irregularity and PMS
- Support for fertility, conception and reproductive wellbeing
- Improved circulation and lymphatic flow in the pelvic region
- Release of held tension, trauma or stagnant energy in the womb space
- Emotional processing and a sense of reconnection to the feminine body
- Relief from digestive discomfort, bloating and lower back tension
- Support during perimenopause, menopause and hormonal transitions
- A profound sense of groundedness, wholeness and inner calm
Because the touch is so intentional and unhurried, the nervous system can soften out of protection and into rest. The body begins to release what it has been holding.
Who Is It Suitable For?
Womb healing is suitable for women and people with a womb at any stage of life. It is a particularly gentle therapy, and many clients find it accessible even when other bodywork feels too intense.
It may be especially helpful for:
- Those experiencing menstrual irregularity, pain or hormonal imbalance
- Individuals on a fertility journey, or preparing for or recovering from pregnancy
- People navigating grief, loss or reproductive trauma
- Those experiencing perimenopause, menopause or significant hormonal shifts
- Anyone feeling disconnected from their body or the pelvic space
- Clients seeking emotional release, grounding or deep restoration
Womb healing can be used on its own or as part of a wider holistic care plan. Please note that during heavy menstrual bleeding or in the period following abdominal surgery, hands-on abdominal work will not be carried out — however, the energy-based techniques such as Gentle Release Therapy, Reiki and Energy Field Healing can still be offered. Please consult your therapist if you have any questions or concerns about your suitability for treatment.
What Happens During a Treatment?
A typical session lasts 90 minutes, though this may vary depending on your individual needs.
Consultation The session opens with a gentle, unhurried conversation. You are invited to share how you are feeling in your body, any areas of discomfort, and whatever feels relevant to your wellbeing — physically, emotionally or energetically.
Comfortable Positioning You will lie fully or partially undressed to the waist, draped with towels for comfort and privacy. The treatment room is calm, warm and held as a safe space throughout.
Warming and Preparing the Body The therapist begins with warming touch to the abdomen and lower back, to allow the tissues to soften and the nervous system to settle before deeper work begins.
Abdominal Work and Womb Massage Using slow, rhythmic, intentional strokes and specific abdominal holds, the therapist works with the uterus, ovaries, surrounding fascia and digestive organs. Chi Ne Tsang techniques support the release of tension and stagnation held within the internal organs, while Abdominal Massage encourages healthy circulation and structural ease throughout the pelvic space.
Energy Work Gentle Release Therapy, Reiki and Energy Field Healing are woven through the session, either alongside physical touch or as their own distinct layer of the treatment. This subtle work supports the body’s energetic rebalancing — clearing, calming and restoring flow where it may have become blocked or disrupted.
Emotional Space As the body releases across all these levels, emotions may naturally arise. This is welcomed and held without judgment. The therapist creates space for whatever needs to move through — whether that is tears, warmth, stillness or simply a deep exhale.
Grounding and Closing The session closes with gentle grounding to the feet and pelvis, helping you return to a full sense of presence and connection. Many clients leave feeling quieter, lighter and more at home in their body.
Aftercare
Following your womb healing session, rest is strongly encouraged. Allow your body the time and space it needs to integrate the work. Drink plenty of warm water throughout the day to support circulation and release.
You may notice continued sensations over the following hours or days — warmth in the pelvis, emotional movement, shifts in your cycle, increased energy or a need for more sleep. All of this is a natural part of the body’s rebalancing process.
Avoid strenuous exercise immediately after your session. Warmth — a hot water bottle to the abdomen, a gentle walk, or time spent quietly — can help deepen the benefits. If emotions surface, allow them to pass with compassion and without judgment.
Each person’s experience is unique. Some notice shifts immediately; for others, the effects unfold gently over time. Honouring this process is part of the healing.
